Fall 2023 – Presidents Update

by

Paul Ngai, BMW CCA NJ President

Dear Members,

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer. I’m happy to announce our chapter membership has been increasing consistently since May. I want to welcome all new members who have joined. However, we still have many individuals with lapsing memberships. Please remember to renew your membership so you can partake in all benefits, including the vehicle purchase rebate program. Once your membership has lapsed, you will have to wait another year to participate in the rebate program. You can find your membership renewal status by logging into BMW Car Club of America

For those unaware of the vehicle rebate program, members are eligible for rebates up to $1,000 on the purchase or lease of a new BMW. Rebates range from $250 to $500 on certified pre-owned BMWs. This is a great program and is available to all active members (after 12 months of membership). I recently received my rebate check from purchasing a CPO X3. Time for some upgrades!

From our driving events, we have completed three HPDE (High Performance Driver Education) schools and two Club Races so far this year. We have one final HPDE event coming up October 14-15 at the Shenandoah track in Summit Point, WV. I know many of you can choose to attend other HPDE events, but we are grateful to see many returning students and instructors. We really appreciate your loyalty to our chapter. It has contributed to our success since our first HPDE schools in 1974, leading into our 50th anniversary coming up next year.

In addition, our Autocross program has completed two events this year, with a third scheduled for September 17 and the final for  October 8 – both at TDBank Ballpark in Bridgewater. Thanks to all the volunteers, drivers, and instructors.

On the social front, please visit our website to see the latest social event news, including an indoor go-karting event. I’m also happy to announce that our annual VDC Tour/Charity event is back on the calendar. It will be held September 16. Registration is open and we still have a few spots left. You can sign up here: : BMW Vehicle Distribution Center-NJ.

Also, save the date October 22 2 for our annual Fall Pick Your Pumpkin Rally to benefit NORWESCAP. The rally is a great excuse to take a drive with your friends and curse the rally masters for their clues. More details are on the registration page.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone that the National O’fest event will be held in Warwick, RI from September 27-30. If you’ve never been to an O’fest, I encourage you to sign-up. It’s a great way to meet other BMW enthusiasts from all over the country, including Hawaii! You will also get to see some cool cars, classic and modern. Sign-Up Here: BMW CCA O’Fest – Presented by Michelin

Hope to see you all at our next event. Happy Motoring!

Fall 2022 – Presidents Update

by

Paul Ngai, BMW CCA NJ President

Dear Members,

It’s been nine months since I became president of the NJ BMW Chapter, and I would like to give everyone an update about our chapter. It has been a busy year, and we are starting to plan for 2023. Here’s a quick recap. Our monthly meetings have been very successful, and we typically see 40-50 members in attendance. It’s a great way for everyone to network and meet each other. If you haven’t been to one, I invite you to come to our next meeting on October 20 at Shade Tree Garage!
More Information

From our driving events, we have held 3 HPDE schools, club race schools, and an ITS (Instructors Training School). We have one more event coming up next week at Shenandoah. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still space. Five days left to sign up!
Register for HPDE

We also held autocross events at the Somerset Patriots baseball stadium in Bridgewater, NJ. If you haven’t been to an autocross, we invite you to check it out. The final event of the 2022 season will be on October 23.
Whether it be a track event or an autocross, one thing is for sure you will be surprised by your car’s capabilities!

We have a new Social Director this year, Josephine Skwish.  Some of you may recognize her in our social media apps. We held our first Cars & Coffee event in August at Panera Bread in Union, and over 150 cars showed up! Most of the attendees have shown interest in joining the club.

Last month, we were invited back to BMW NA for their Open House Cars & Coffee event in conjunction with the E30 M3 SigFest event. It was great to see many familiar faces and some new ones.

I want to thank all the board members, elected officers, volunteers, and sponsors for everything they do for the chapter. Without them, these events would not be possible. Finally, I’d like to thank our members for being loyal to the chapter and the brand and supporting us by attending events, meetings and staying active.

My goal is to continue to provide members with everything from social meets to driving events. If you have any ideas or would like to volunteer to help with the chapter, please do not hesitate. Please email me directly pkngai@yahoo.com

Our website is https://njbmwcca.org/, and you will find everything about our chapter, including our upcoming events and contact information.

Hope to see you soon!
Paul
