2011 Whack your Turkey 11/20/2011

Post by jont »

Mark Your Calendars!

The 2011 Annual Whack Your Turkey rally is a go! It will be held on Sunday, November 20th, the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Rallymasters Ron Gemeinhardt and I are your not-so-humble hosts.

This is a gimmick road rally, where each car is given the same set of route instructions, and then asked questions about things you will see along the route. Some questions are easy, others difficult, and often hilariously funny (at least to the rallymasters). The rally ends at a restaurant, where you can share lunch, and commiserate with your car's occupants, and everyone else who's finished.

This is open to all club members and their guests. There are two classes of participants for this event. All two person vehicles will be entered into the Competition Class, and your ranking counts towards the club's annual Driver of the Year competition. Vehicles with three or more people will be placed in the Family/Fun Class - you will compete against each other. Everyone will be required to sign our standard club waiver, which we will have at the event when you register on-site. If you are bringing any children, please download and fill out This Form for each child that is participating, and give it to the rallymaster registrars when you arrive at the event.

The entrance fee is $25 per car. Please bring exact change if you can. You should arrive at the event with a full tank of gas, pencils or pens, and a clipboard for your navigator to write on. There should be restrooms at the start. We'll have the driver's meeting at 9AM, so please arrive promptly. It is likely we will send the first car by 9:30 AM.

The starting location is in Somerset County, near the Somerville Circle. We are waiting on confirmation before we announce the exact location, which we should know on Tuesday.

To sign up, please send email to rallymaster@ackthud.net, indicating your name, and the names of others in your car. See you on the 20th!

I'm sure everyone will find it easily but just so it's clear: Google gives the location of Parking Lot A. To reach Lot B, turn right at the rotary on Park Drive, not left.

See you all there!

How the heck did I miss this? Wow I have been in a cocoon or something because I totally forgot. Time to debut the 740il as a rally car.

Not if we can help it. Two time rally champs need another too add to our coolness. It seems when we run different cars we do well. Hopefully the e38 will bring good luck. At the very least we will have comfort and heated seats.

The rally was a great time! Thanks so much to the rallymasters Jon T. and Ron G. for putting together such a fun and challenging event. It was evident how much effort you all put in and it's very appreciated!

+1 to Jeff's comments. It was a great route - lots of fun to drive and some great NJ countryside. Thanks again to Jon and Ron for their hard work and thanks to JMK and Bav Auto for sponsorship.
