e90 oil pan gasket repair
Does the front subframe really have to drop to change this gasket? Has anyone done it without? Seems like this would an easy repair in any other car. Thoughts, experiences, tips????

Re: e90 oil pan gasket repair
I've only done it on an s52 in my M3 track car and I definitely braced the engine and pull the front subframe to do it. I think I've read on some motors you can loosen the motor mounts and to get just enough clearance to slide out the pan but I have no idea if that is actually true or what
it's the right time to do the motor mounts too
for the brace I've seen people do it with 2 2x4s or a 4x4 but I just got the engine support bar from Harbor Freight for < $60 (it was more like $40 when I bought it but that was like 7 years ago):
