E46 sport seats fit in an E39

Thanks for the help on the keys. Another question, will a sport seat from an E46 sedan fit in my 2002 530i? I tried searching on bimmerforums and some said yes, some said no, not without welding new rails. There is a set for sale on Craigs List nearby.
