I'm probably going to attend but cannot RSVP as I do not have nor want to have a Facebook account.

Where to get auto trans service in Morris County

Hi all, I'm looking to have routine maintenance performed on my E90 auto transmission. Fluid, filter, plus the 5 megatronic seals (square one and the 4 tube seals). Dealer tells me its lifetime and really does not want to do it. The BMW definition of lifetime doesn't work for me 'when it breaks, it'...

Re: Bilstein 'life time warranty' shock coverage

I've had warranty replacements by Koni originally purchased from an on-line shock vendor. I was able to do a pre ship where they charged me for the replacements but refunded the charge when they received the defective ones back. Although they were listed for the application the FSD shocks were not s...

Re: Club discounts on parts and services at NJ BMW dealers.

A discount % is only of relative value. I have found that the "list price" for the same item varies from dealer to dealer. Probably more value in the long run is establishing a good relationship with a dealer that offers good prices.

Re: e9X spark plug torque values?

The 335D is holding up quite well. If we could get rid of the emissions systems BMW was using this model as a test bed for, it would be pretty much bullet proof. So far everything has been covered by the extended warranty, up in about a month when we hit 100K miles. Emissions wise it needed an intak...

Re: e9X spark plug torque values?

I have the Bentley and it states 18 +/-2 ft-lb for the spark plugs. Glad this was of some help because for the engine, the manual is totally useless on my Diesel .

Re: E39 seat restoration

Just recolored the seats in our 2000 328i and I think they came out great. In my case I only needed to do the drivers seat and the arm rest. As it turns out I did not do the sides of the seat as they did not need it (and I'm not sure if it's actually leather or vinyl). As long as there are no tears ...

Re: Need good detailer

thanks Keith, but my car is now 5 years old, and I have no intention of buying a new one, since I'm going to retire in 5 months, that will cut my income to 1/4 of what I have now. Ha, have you beat. I "got retired" almost a year ago (wasn't my choice). My plan was to have our new car paid for befor...

Re: Need good detailer

Not a detailer, but a tip. When you get your brand new car have XPel paint protection put on at least the front face and headlights of the car. This will prevent what Christina is trying to fix. I had it done to our 340 GT and it ran about $400. The film is self healing so if it gets damaged, it wil...

I've gone ahead and replaced the sagging headliner. If I start wrenching on the car I'll no longer be inclined to sell it. Perfect first car for an enthusiast willing to DIY a few repairs.

Re: New to BMW

You probably need to get the codes read by a real BMW computer (GT1?). As we know the transmission is electronically controlled thus the computer knows why it's doing what it is. I had a 'similar' issue a while back on a 5 series with the V8, although was intermittent in nature. Turned out to be a d...

Re: FS: E46 328i 5-Speed - Orient Blue - 216K miles

If I had a 3 bay garage this would be simple, I'd just keep it. But she deserves to be driven and enjoyed. It is amazing that even after all these miles, how similar the car runs/drives now to as when it was brand new. Will we be saying the same thing about BMW's made today?

Actually I had thought of LeMons, but with a lot of TLC, it's a better car than that. Even the A/C works! But if I cannot find someone who wants a diamond in the rough, you never know. (In which case I expect it to win - no penalties!).
