This is a new event by the NJ Chapter designed to encourage students who are new to the track to try out our Driver School program. The event will be held at the new Lightning Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ (www.njmotorsportspark.com). The Lightning Raceway is a 10 turn, 1.9 mile road course featuring a banked, high-speed turn known as the Lightbulb. In addition, we will be using the skidpad in car control exercises!
The Driver School Committee understands that there are hurdles for “first-time” students to overcome to try one of our events and so we have designed this school to reduce those hurdles as much as possible. First, the event is being held locally. Hotel rooms in the Millville area are relatively low and, for students who live in southern NJ, you could even get up early and drive down the morning of the event. Second, we are offering a $50 rebate to our First Timers so that your final registration fee is only $125. You will not find a better rate to get out on the track with personalized instruction anywhere. Third, this event will have 4 student run groups (rather than the traditional 3) so that the First Timers run in their own group. This arrangement will allow instruction on the track and in the classroom to be specific for First Time students and will provide a smaller run group for First Time students allowing better spacing on the track. Fourth, we will have an extended skid pad session for First Time students to give you a better feel for your car before you get on the track. And Fifth, for our First Time students, we may also be able to loan you a helmet for the event (please see Promotions). For students who have been to schools previously, we will also be holding skid pad sessions for your run groups and we anticipate running fewer cars per run group so that everyone has plenty of open track.
We anticipate that this school will fill because of the reduced number of students per run group. This will be a terrifically fun event giving everyone one last chance for a school before the off-season. Come on out and join us!
Please update your non-NJ Chapter Driving History in your Profile!
IMPORTANT NOTE: NJ BMW CCA DOES NOT ALLOW CONVERTIBLES OF ANY KIND NOR SUV/SAVs IN OUR ON-TRACK EVENTS
REGISTER ONLINE! What's this?
Our 2009 season marks our third year using a paperless driver school registration process. Students and instructors can register for our driver schools through this website only. Due to the overwhelming response last year, WE ACCEPT CREDIT/DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS FOR REGISTRATION FEES THROUGH GOOGLE CHECKOUT! Eliminate the hassle of mailing a check and worrying when it arrives, simply complete the payment information and mark your calendar. Whether you pay electronically or by check, please be aware of our Cancellation Policy.
To register, click the "Register" link above. When the registration page opens:
• Fill in the boxes relating to the event
• Click on the box to confirm your Personal Information and that you have read and accept the Cancellation Policy
• FIRST TIME STUDENTS: Please make a notation in the Notes field of the Registration form that you are a First Time student, i.e. you have never participated in a track event, so that we can issue a rebate to you.
• Click on the “Register” button
You will be sent a confirming email that details the registration information. If you have any trouble with this process, click HERE for instructions.
If you elect to pay by check, print two copies of the confirming email -one for your records, and one to mail with your check payment. Mail the email confirmation, proof of current BMW CCA membership (either a copy of your membership card or a Roundel address label) and your check payment to the event Registrar for that School.
Regardless of your payment method, you will receive a confirmatory acceptance email from the Registrar for EACH school. You must open this email and click the link contained therein to acknowledge that you have received your acceptance. You will also be provided pdf files of: (1) an Acceptance Letter that contains important information specific to that school such as the time the track opens, when Tech Inspection begins, etc. The letter will also contain a link to this website to a copy of the Liability Waiver that every attendee will be required to sign; (2) the Tech Inspection checklist; (3) the Emergency Medical Information form and (4) the New Student pack (if applicable). These documents are also available in the "Forms" section of Downloads at left.
CANCELLATION POLICY - Cancellations will be accepted until two weeks prior to the start date of an event. Any cancellation received on or prior to the respective cancellation date will be charged a $25.00 handling fee. Any cancellation request following the cancellation date is subject to forfeiture of the entire entry fee if the Registrar is unable to fill your slot. If your slot is filled, only the $25 handling fee will apply. If you are a “no show” at the event, no refund will be given. All cancellations must be communicated in writing via e-mail or letter through the Registrar. If NJ BMW CCA must cancel an event for any reason, registrants will be provided a full refund; however, NJ BMW CCA will not be liable for any charges or costs registrants may incur other than the registration fee. Refunds will be issued following the event.
