european delivery prgram

Post by bill881 »

Thinking about buying a 3-series in Germany through the European delivery program. Anyone have any problems doing this? What do I really need to know? Thanks.

We have done it twice. Once through Fred Opert (he advertises in Roundel) who was very pleasant to work with and once through Open Road. Part of the trick is to find a sales person who has had experience. You can buy or lease. You pick up the car at a dedicated delivery center in Munich then return the car to the shipping agent in one of a large number of cities. The biggest thing is that you then have to wait 4-6 weeks for the car to be shipped back and delivered. Remeber that you can only buy a US spec car.

The process is well described on BMW NA's website.

It is a huge amount of fun and it is the only way we will buy a new BMW again.
